Our Story

Tropical Fruits Australia is a family run business which has been supplying quality frozen fruits in Australia for over 30 years. Our family acquired the business in 2015 in the bold ambition to expand upon our Chilean heritage and the tropical fruits we love.

We now import quality frozen berries to Australia, direct from our family’s farm and processing plant in Chile. The decision to acquire the business was born out of the desire to maintain our Chilean heritage, and to share the delicious berries we grow with Australia. Our Chilean family members have spent their lives based in the farming industry growing and processing delicious berries, including blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, boysenberries and strawberries.

The Chilean farming industry is well established and stretches from Santiago to Osorno in the south; anyone who travels along the PanAmerican Highway will see the sheer scale of agribusiness in Chile. The highway runs through the centre of fertile valleys between the snow-capped Andes Mountains and the Coastal Cordilleras which have created an ideal set of micro-climates which can be best described as a “food bowl’. Throughout this region there are nearly 16,000 growers in fruit production of which 7,800 export. Additionally, there are 518 exporting companies, more than 60 processors, 300 commercial plant nurseries, 385 cold storage facilities, 100 permanent fruit packing houses and more than 1,000 temporary packing facilities.

Our family ensures that our imported products are of the highest quality. We have the unique ability to have a trusted family member or family friend involved in every state of the berry production process. We are proud to say we are a 100% Australian family owned and operated company. Our family have been involved in the production and export of berries and fruits from Chile for over 25 years, as well as being leaders in the hospitality industry in Australia. We understand the need to have exceptionally high standards when it comes to handling high quality food products.

We are proud to demonstrate that the management of our company now stretches across three generations, each with with a devotion and deep love for the natural environment and healthy food. Growing fruits and berries started with our grandfather and grandmother, our grandfather was a professional apiarist, and our grandmother spent her lifetime working as a chef. They both passed on their passions and skills to their daughter Beatriz and granddaughter Camila who is now the latest generation carrying on the family passion for healthy living.

These lifetimes in the industry give us the unique ability to select the best quality fruit for our customers. Our superior product, industry contacts and product knowledge are what differentiate us.
